Italy as envisioned by New Mexico

This palazzo and courtyard area in Lucca reminded me very much of the month and a half I spent in southern Mexico. The fact that we visited on a beautiful, sunny day, I'm sure didn't hurt the comparison, but it was very reminiscent. The bright blue sky paired with the yellow stucco, bricks, and rusted iron detailwork was all evocative of not home, but certainly something familiar, and certainly not aligned with the typical visions of ancient, sun-bleached Italian ruins.
