Villa Malcontenta

Exterior of Villa Malcontenta

Interior View of Roman Bath House Window

Our final stop on our Palladian Villa Tour was Villa Malcontenta on the outskirts of Venezia. This villa was one of Palladio’s first and is called the “Sad House” because the lady who lived in it was exiled from her home in Venezia due to her party ways. The large window is borrowed from the Roman bath houses, and is repeated in several other of Palladian works. This villa sits on the water because the water way was the main source of transportation.
