Street dogs in Athens

Many, many dogs inhabit the streets of Athens. Many appear to be strays, while others wear collars. They roam in packs, sometimes friendly, sometimes not. Every street and monument is covered in sleeping dogs, most paying no mind to the tourists around them. Many local cafes take pity on them and will feed them laftovers from empty tables. I witnessed several dogs pick through gyro remnants. They apparently get enough food to be picky enough to sort through, eat the meat and leave the bread. These dogs are just another component to the bustling city streets.
