Free University Library in Berlin

At the heart of the Free University in Berlin a Foster and Partners’ modern library is tucked away behind the university buildings. Nicknamed “the Brain” by local University students in Berlin. The name correlates to both the function and plan of the building as it tends to look like an oddly shaped head when viewed from above. The interior reveals a sleekly green design for the building as just the right amount of diffused light filters through the multi layered shell of the building. The glowing shell never seems to touch the white balconies fill the interior. If traveling to Berlin it is worth your time to head out of the city a bit to the suburbs of Berlin to find this modern jewel on the Free University Library.
