Streetscapes in Barcelona, Spain

The pictures are taken along some of the main streets in Barcelona. The first two photos are from Passeig de Picasso and the third picture is from Passeig de Colom. The streets are made both functional and visually stimulating. The fountain and trough work together with the trees to make a double layer of separation between the vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The tree roots provide living sculputres. A place for children to play and adults to rest in the shade of the tree. The arbors cover both bike lanes and pedestrian paths between the road and the harbor. These streets in particular have done an excellent job of using regional specific materials. Vegetation, water, and the stone used in the steps and fountain are all from or around Barcelona.
