Corte d'Aibo

On a day of touring several places in the province of Emilia-Romagna one of our scheduled stops was at a lunch and wine tasting on a small farm outside of Bologna called Corte d'Aibo. The lunch featured antipasti typical of the region, including delicious salami, prosciutto, cheese, salad, and risotto, as well as a couple of delicous desserts. Accompanying the food were two wines, a red, Barbera, and a sparkling white, Pignoletto. Both were produced on the property in a barn fully equipped with a modern wine production system. Unfortunately, we were running behind schedule, and did not have more time to appreciate the food, wine, and surrounding countryside. Around twenty five of us piled out of our bus and swarmed upon the spread "like pigeons on a bread wagon", consuming every bit of food and wine in our path. This invasion was much to the surprise and dismay of the other residents who were staying in the inn for a relaxing rural getaway. After eating and drinking nearly as much as possible we had a few minutes for a brief tour of the wine production facility. Then we piled back on the bus, fully charged with great Italian food and wine for the rest of our architectural tour.
