L'ascensore

A lifesaver after a long day of walking around downtown Genoa.

If you come to Genoa, the first thing you will notice is that the entire city is on an obscenely steep hill. If you go down this hill, you must inevitably come back up it. The downtown area is a really great historical, social, and commercial destination, and after a great day in this center, you have to face the hill of death. This is where the ascensore comes into play. For only 70 euro cents you can ride this lovely little piece of equipment up and arrive midway up the hill without the pain and suffering of actually walking up it. Don't forget to stamp your biglietto though; if the police catch you without the stamp the ride will cost you 50 euros.
