Pigeons
Pigeons all over Italy
Almost as impressive as the Duomo in Milan, is the swarm of pigeons outside in the piazza waiting to attack innocent tourists. These birds are not afraid of people or dogs, and they do not hesitate to fly at you or crowd around your feet if there is any indication that you may be carrying food. For those wishing to encourage this behavior, there is usually a man walking around offering food to the birds, and he is happy to give you a handfull and watch the birds climb all over you. Unfortunately, escaping these flying rodents is no easy chore. No matter how many blocks away you walk, there is always at least one lonely bird ready to stare you down for a crumb of bread (and then call all of his friends over so they can all do the same).
