Stepping off the train in Milan we found ourselves under an unbrella of steel. The contest for Milano Centrale was won in 1912 by Ulisse Stacchini. Durring World War I construction slowed due to economic influence and once construction resumed in 1925 the vision for the train station included a steel canopy spanning 341 meters long. The new design was headed up by Alberto Fava whcih is the design we experienced on our trip to Milan, Italy.
