The Genova Boatshow

October 6th thru the 14th marked the 47th annual boatshow in Genova, Italy. This show is the largest in Europe and showcases everything from kayaks and fishing gear up to some of the largest yachts in the world. I had a chance to go and see this exhibit and was completely floored (or more appropriately "decked") by the massive variety of boats and the extent that companies would go to showcase them. Some companies would go so far as to build their own building on site for sales, consulating purposes, and as backdrops for their boats. This was mostly with the larger yachts. If you wanted to go on board any of the boats you would go up to the companies registration desk and give them your name, address, and phone number. They would then call someone over who spoke your language and they would give you a personal tour of the boat and show you some of the main features. It was definitely worth seeing.
