Spinnaker Tower

The centerpiece of the redevelopment of Portsmouth Harbor, United Kingdom, Spinnaker Tower stands 170 meters high. The tower was designed by the local firm HGP Architects and the engineering consultants Scott Wilson with the vision that reflects Portsmouth’s maritime history. Its shape represents sails billowing in the wind; a design accomplished using two large, white, sweeping steel arcs. At the top is a triple observation deck that provides a 320 degree view of the city, a viewing distance around 37 kilometers. One neat feature is the glass floor in one of the viewing decks, for it is the largest in Europe.
