Mod Display 4 Ancient Art

Our first walking tour in Florence took us to the Duomo Museum. I'm sure much to Stefano's chagrin, I was more interested in the way the artifacts were displayed. It was actually a quite contemporary space for such ancient pieces. To find them quietly mounted to the wall, or carefully built into a niche was so thoughtful. Wall mounted pieces ranged from this bust (top) to huge bracketed sarcophagi. Smaller statues were placed on floating shelves. And this frieze not only had its special niche, but it was off-centered, with a skylight to provide natural light. The understated displays were the perfect platform to highlight the details on exhibit.
