After visiting Renzo Piano's Parco Del Musica, Marina (our guide) took us to visit Zaha Hadid's new Maxxi Museum. It was very close by, as the neightborhood is apparently under redevelopment. Called Maxxi for "Museum of Art for the XXI Century," the project was initially scheduled for completion in 2005. However, due to various political and construction issues, our visit was to an ongoing construction site. The concrete exterior has been a point of contention as Zaha has been particular about having the perfect surface. A gallery has already opened, and was scheduled to hold activities for Rome's Notte Bianca, but project completion has now been set for sometime in 2008.
