While we were in Florence, the Galleria di Accademia had its annual promotion, granting free entrance on Tuesday nights during the month of September. So initially we went just to check him off the list. But mama mia! The photos and years of art history don’t do him justice. David is absolutely breath taking. From the moment you turn the corner until you [don’t want to] leave, it’s incredible. I don’t know if it’s the placement of the piece, framed in a dome built just for him, his calm demeanor, or his shear size. The replica placed in David’s absence at his original post in the Piazza della Signoria doesn’t compare. I could have stayed there for hours. However, still waiting for him to call.
