Imitating Imogen Cunningham

As part of our field studies class we were each assigned a photographer to imitate in our own architectural photographs. The images to the left are those of Imogen Cunningham, an American photographer known for her photography of botanicals, nudes and industrial scenes. In application of her photo techniques her botanical images seemed to capture the contrast of light and shadows found in the details of Renzo Piano’s Parc del a Musique in Rome and this statue in Florence. Her photographs find a richness in texture and capture the beauty in the close ups of the botanicals. I tried to do the same in capturing moments which were small and seem to often be overlooked.
