Museums at Auschwitz

The memorial of Auschwitz (MAP)is one of event, rather than one of architecture: it is the events that occurred that imbibe the site with its poignancy and meaning. If you follow the suggested itinerary through the site, the last set of building you arrive at are former barracks that have been converted into national museums by each country that suffered losses at Auschwitz. Italy's museum is abstract and thought-provoking, while Holland's is stark and informative. Many of the exhibits include interactive digital media.

You enter and exit through a gate which translates as: "Work will make you free."
