IJ Burg is a development outside of Amsterdam currently in the construction phase. IJ Burg is situated in the IJ Lake and is connected to the mainland by two new bridges built in 2002. The expected date of completion for the entire development is 2012, the neighborhood will have 18,000 homes and over 45,000 residence. The plan by architects Van den Broek en Bakema also includes office and retail space for over 12,000.
It's hard to foresee what the project will look like when it is fully inhabited and completed. The mix of designers through out the project makes for a patch work buildings.
