Doors of the Duomo in Milan

map

The large Neoclassical bronze doors of the Dumo in Milan were designed in 1906 by Lodovico Pogliaghi. The Duomo was completed in 1960 when the last bronze door was put on. What is interesting about these doors is in the lower section in arms reach. In one of the lower details, the bronze leg is completely polished clean. So many people go up to the door and grab onto the leg that it will not turn the greenish color of the rest of the door. It is also a custom to place roses on the door.
